The Artist | The Crown Prince of pentimenti, Jean-Michel BASQUIAT was a self-taught American painter born in New York City in 1960. Active from 1978 to 1988, in a short span of 10 years he produced a formidable and prolific body of work that would cement his incontrovertible mark in American and international art history.
